Sarah Nielsen has always had a passion for design. With her father working construction and a woodworker on the side, she began building and designing at a young age. She attended Iowa State University, graduating in 2013 with a BFA emphasizing in Woodworking with a Minor in Business. In 2014, she started at Showplace Cabinetry Design Center as an Assistant Designer/Customer Service representative. Within two years, she rose to be a full-time designer. With her background in woodworking, she strives for a function-oriented design to create one of a kind spaces that work well for the client.

Sarah enjoys learning about new products and design techniques to better service her clients. Her goal is to achieve the spaces the client has always dreamed of. She is currently a Certified Kitchen and Bath Designer and working on a Certification in Aging in Place with ADA guidelines. Sarah is passionate about being involved in the community and the building industry in the Des Moines Area. She sits on the Leadership Board for the local NKBA chapter. She is also an active member for the Des Moines Area Professional Women in Building and Des Moines Area HBA.

Cabinetry design gives me the blessing to get to know my clients on a personal level and really know how I can make their kitchen their gathering space.  I like creating organization and function to maximize efficiency in the home which allows for more family time together.  My experience comes in cabinetry design as well as helping to select all finishes within a remodel. When not making beautiful spaces come to life or drinking a fantastic cup of coffee, I stay busy with my husband Joe, our two sons Greyson & Easton and our two dogs.

With 13 years of experience in the design industry ranging from cabinetry, plumbing fixtures, countertops, appliances, and lighting, my enthusiasm for design, organizational skills, and attention to detail allow me to visual the entire project. I truly enjoy listening to each individual client, assessing their wants and needs, and making suggestions to ensure the entire space is cohesive with the rest of the home. In my free time, I love going for walks, sipping coffee or sampling craft beers with friends, and spending time with my growing family.
